JG Pest Control runs an extended evening operation, every weekday and every weekend, all year round. Evening pest control is the 5pm to 10pm window: out-of-hours, but not overnight. After-work, after-school, family-is-back-from-the-day evening callouts are the single largest evening category we run and we built our roster to deliver them at standard rates. Most of the UK pest control market shuts at 5pm. We are open early, we are open late, we work every weekend and every UK bank holiday except Christmas Day. If you have a mouse running along the skirting board at 7pm when the children are getting ready for bed, a rat in the garden when you get home at 6pm, a wasp nest you have spotted at the back door as the sun goes down, or a hotel housekeeping bedbug report at 8pm before the next check-in, this is the call. Same-day evening callout across the UK, standard rate, fully guaranteed.

Evening pest control: out-of-hours, but not overnight
Most pest controllers stop at 5pm. The UK pest control market is structured around traditional Monday-to-Friday weekday hours, and the evening window from 5pm to 10pm is largely uncovered. That is the wrong shape for the actual demand pattern. Evening callouts are the single biggest residential category we handle. People are home from work, children are back from school, properties are in active use, lights are on, the kettle is running, and pests that were quietly active during the day get spotted. Wasps come into the kitchen looking for sugar, mice run across the floor when the TV is on quietly, rats are seen in the garden as the light goes. Hotels complete the day’s housekeeping and bedbug discoveries surface in the early evening. Restaurants and bars are mid-service. We hold dispatch capacity through to 10pm every night across the UK, with standard rates up to 8pm and a small out-of-hours uplift only between 8pm and 10pm that is fully quoted on the phone before we send anyone. Beyond 10pm the call rolls into our overnight 24 hour operation.

The evening pest control workload
Early evening (5pm-7pm): home from work residential
The biggest single evening category. Home owners and families are back from work and school, doors and windows are open, lights are on, kitchens are in use. Pest sightings that have been building all day during an empty house get noticed. We hold dispatch capacity through to 7pm with standard rates and same-day attendance the norm.
Mid evening (7pm-9pm): family-friendly window
Often the preferred booking window for callers with young children, because the daytime is taken up by school runs and after-school clubs and 7pm to 9pm is when the family is settled at home. Standard rate up to 8pm, then a small uplift from 8pm onwards fully quoted on the phone.
Late evening (9pm-10pm): commercial and pre-overnight
Commercial sites in particular use the 9pm to 10pm window for pre-overnight pest work. Restaurants close service and want a technician in before clean-down. Hotels finish housekeeping and discover bedbug reports. The 9pm to 10pm slot is the last fully-staffed evening band before our overnight operation takes over.
Standard rate to 8pm, small uplift after
Evening pricing is the rule the market does not match. 5pm to 8pm calls are the standard rate, the same as any weekday daytime call. 8pm to 10pm carries a small out-of-hours uplift that is always fully quoted before we dispatch, so the figure is known in advance. Late-night and overnight calls beyond 10pm carry a larger out-of-hours uplift on a different schedule.
Why the evening is when people actually need pest control
Most pests are crepuscular or nocturnal
Rats, mice, cockroaches and bedbugs are all active in low light. The home owner who has been at work all day comes home, settles down, turns the TV on at low volume, and sees the activity for the first time. The morning sighting that a daytime caller often reports is usually evidence (droppings, gnaw marks, dead insects); the evening sighting is usually a live encounter.
Evening is when families decide they want it gone
A daytime sighting that the owner shrugs off becomes an evening problem when the children are about to go to bed in a room where it was spotted. We get a sharp call-volume spike between 6pm and 8pm from parents who have decided that whatever it is, it is not going to be there overnight.
Commercial evening callouts are operationally distinct
Hotels, restaurants and bars run different operational cycles in the evening from the daytime. Housekeeping completes turnover. Restaurants reset for service or close down for the night. Bars are mid-trade. The pest controller who can attend without disrupting any of these cycles is the one the operator calls back.
Wasps and hornets are still active in early evening
Through the summer, wasps and hornets remain active well into the evening, particularly in warm weather. Evening wasp nest treatments can be more effective than midday treatments because the wasps are returning to the nest for the night.
Evening is not the same as overnight or weekend
People searching for “evening pest control” usually want the 5pm to 10pm window specifically. If you want overnight or weekend coverage:
- 24 hour pest control — for overnight (10pm onwards) and the round-the-clock window.
- Emergency pest control — for genuine emergency dispatch any day, any hour.
- Saturday pest control — for Saturday daytime cover.
- Sunday pest control — for Sunday daytime cover.
- Weekend pest control — combined Saturday and Sunday view.
Note that our evening service runs through the weekend too. A Sunday evening pest call gets the same evening dispatch as a Tuesday evening pest call.

Evening pest control FAQs
What hours does evening pest control cover?
5pm to 10pm. We treat that window as our evening band. Before 5pm is standard daytime. After 10pm is overnight and rolls into our 24 hour operation. Within the evening band, 5pm to 8pm is standard rate and 8pm to 10pm carries a small out-of-hours uplift fully quoted on the phone.
Are you really open every evening?
Yes. Every weekday evening and every weekend evening, all year round. The only evening we close fully is Christmas Day itself. The phone is answered live every hour of the evening, with a real person dispatching the call to a local technician.
How quickly can you reach me in the evening?
Most evening emergency calls in central London, major cities and county towns get a two to three hour window. Outer suburban and rural addresses get a confirmed window for the same evening or first thing the next morning, depending on what time the call came in.
Do you charge more for evening visits?
5pm to 8pm is the standard rate, the same as any weekday daytime call. 8pm to 10pm carries a small out-of-hours uplift fully quoted on the phone before we dispatch. Late-night and overnight calls beyond 10pm carry a larger out-of-hours uplift on a separate schedule.
Can I book an evening visit in advance?
Yes. Many of our evening bookings come in during the day from people who know they want a visit after they get home from work. We will hold the evening slot with no extra charge.
Do you cover wasp nest removal in the evening?
Yes. Evening wasp treatments through the summer can be more effective than midday because the wasps are returning to the nest for the night. Standard same-day evening dispatch.
What about hotel and restaurant evening callouts?
Routine. Hotels complete housekeeping in the early evening and bedbug discoveries surface then. Restaurants are mid-service or in close-down. We attend through staff entrances in unmarked vehicles and produce a written record before we leave.
