When a pest problem strikes outside of normal office hours, the question on most people’s mind is simple: who is actually open right now? At JG Pest Control, we built our business around that question. Our phones are answered from early in the morning until late into the evening, seven days a week, every weekend, and on every UK bank holiday with the single exception of Christmas Day.
That is the genuine difference between us and the bulk of the industry. Most pest control firms close at 5pm Friday and do not pick up again until 9am Monday. We don’t. If you are awake at 6am with rats in the kitchen, or at 10pm Sunday with a wasp nest by the back door, you can call us and a real person will answer.
Need help right now? Call our team and we will dispatch a BPCA Level 2 certified techniciannician to you as quickly as possible.
JG Pest Control Hours of Cover
- Open early in the morning through late in the evening
- Open every Saturday and every Sunday, all year round
- Open on every UK bank holiday except Christmas Day
- Same-day callouts available across most of England and Wales
- Real humans on the phones, never just an answering machine
Why “24 Hour” Means Something Different to Us
The truthful answer is that a tiny minority of pest control firms run a literal staffed phone line at 3am. Most companies that advertise “24 hour pest control” route after-midnight calls to voicemail and ring you back in the morning.
We don’t pretend otherwise. What we do offer is the widest genuine cover in the industry. Our lines are staffed from very early until very late, every single day of the year apart from Christmas Day. If you call in the middle of the night, you can leave a message and we will be back to you first thing.
For the vast majority of pest emergencies, that is what people actually need. You don’t usually want a technician on your doorstep at 4am, you want to know that someone will pick up at 7am and be with you by lunchtime.
Open Every Day Except Christmas Day
This is the single most important thing to know about us. JG Pest Control is open:
- Every weekday, early morning through to late evening
- Every Saturday, full day
- Every Sunday, full day
- New Year’s Day
- Good Friday and Easter Monday
- Early May bank holiday and the Spring bank holiday
- Summer bank holiday
- Boxing Day
- Every other bank holiday declared in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland
The only day of the year we close is Christmas Day itself. That covers more than 364 days of availability and puts us ahead of roughly 99% of the pest control industry, which routinely shuts down between Christmas Eve and 2 January and treats Sundays as a non-working day.
If you have ever tried to find a pest controller between Christmas and New Year, on a Sunday afternoon, or on a bank holiday weekend, you will know the difference this makes.
When People Actually Call Us Out of Hours
Looking at our after-hours callout pattern over the last few years, the demand is not evenly spread. There are clear peaks where pest problems become genuinely urgent and where most competitors are unreachable.
Friday evening and Saturday morning
This is our single biggest out-of-hours window. People notice a problem during the working week, hope it resolves itself, then call on Friday night or Saturday morning once it has not. Hospitality businesses also call in this window because they are about to face a busy weekend service and cannot risk a customer sighting.
Sunday afternoon and evening
Sunday is the day most pest controllers do not work. We do. A large share of our Sunday callouts are for rats that have been heard in the wall cavity overnight, wasp nests spotted by a homeowner doing weekend garden work, and bed bug discoveries by guests in serviced accommodation or short-let flats.
Bank holiday weekends
Three-day weekends are when wider industry availability falls off a cliff. We staff every bank holiday Monday in the calendar except Christmas Day, which means we pick up calls that competitors miss entirely.
The week between Christmas and New Year
This is the most under-served pest control week of the entire year. Most firms shut from Christmas Eve and do not properly reopen until the first working day of January. We work every day in that window apart from 25 December, and we see steady volumes of rodent and bird problems through it.
Early morning before work
Commercial customers regularly need pre-opening callouts so that hotels, restaurants, food production sites and offices can be cleared before staff and customers arrive. We open our phones early specifically for this.
What Counts as a 24 Hour Pest Emergency?
Not every pest problem is an emergency, but several situations genuinely warrant an out-of-hours response. The most common categories where customers call us right away rather than waiting for the next working day are:
- Rats inside a kitchen, food storage area or living space. Beyond the disease risk, rats can chew through gas pipes, plastic water feeds and live electrical cabling, which is why people do not want to wait.
- Wasp nest at a property entrance, in a child’s bedroom window, or where someone with an allergy lives. Wasps near sensitive doorways or bedrooms move from nuisance to safety risk very quickly.
- Bed bugs identified in a hotel room, holiday let, Airbnb or HMO. Operators need treatment booked before the next guest arrives, often within the same 24 hour window.
- Cockroach sighting in a food business. A single cockroach spotted by a customer or an Environmental Health Officer triggers an immediate response, often before the next service.
- Squirrels in a roof space. Greys gnaw through joists and cabling and can cause house fires. People with grey squirrels active in a loft generally want them out fast.
- Pigeons or seagulls fouling a fire escape, signage, solar panels or a public entrance. A health and safety issue rather than a nuisance.
- A nest of biting insects above a bed. Bees, wasps or hornets above a bedroom ceiling are an obvious call-out-tonight situation.
If your situation is on this list, or feels similar, do not wait. Call us now.

How Our After-Hours Response Actually Works
When you call us outside the standard 9 to 5 window, here is what happens.
1. A real person picks up
Our phone lines route to a live UK-based team during all our staffed hours. You will not get an answering service or an offshore call centre. The person on the phone is briefed daily on which technicians are out and where, so they can give you an honest answer about response time.
2. Your situation gets triaged
We ask a few quick questions: which pest, where in the property, how many seen, any vulnerable people present, is this domestic or commercial. The answers determine whether you need a same-day visit, a next-day visit, or a slot booked for the start of the following week.
3. We give you a realistic time window
We will not pretend a technician will be with you in twenty minutes when they will not. We tell you the truth, usually a one to two hour window for same-day work. If we cannot reach you that day we say so up front rather than wasting your time.
4. Technician arrives in a marked or unmarked van
Discretion matters for many of our customers, particularly hotels, restaurants and HMOs. We can attend in an unmarked van where requested. Every technician is BPCA Level 2 Certified and carries the appropriate insurance documentation.
5. Treatment plus written guarantee
For most domestic pest problems we treat on the first visit and provide a written guarantee. Where the infestation needs multiple visits, all follow-up appointments are booked before the technician leaves.
24 Hour Pest Control for Businesses
Roughly half of our out-of-hours callouts come from commercial customers. Three sectors in particular rely on our extended hours.
Hospitality
Hotels, pubs, restaurants, bars and food production sites cannot wait until the next working day if a pest is sighted. A single cockroach in a kitchen, a mouse in a service area, or a guest reporting bed bugs can cost a venue its operating licence, its star rating, or a viral negative review. We service hospitality clients on monthly contracts with named technicians and full EHO-ready documentation, plus emergency call-in cover for sightings outside the scheduled visit.
Property management and HMOs
Letting agents, property managers and HMO operators deal with frequent tenant complaints about pests, often outside office hours. We work with managing agents directly, attend in unmarked vans where the tenant prefers, and bill back to the agent or landlord rather than the tenant.
Healthcare and education
Care homes, dental practices, GP surgeries, nurseries and schools all need rapid pest response. Our team is used to working around vulnerable residents and pupils, attending out of teaching hours, and providing the paperwork required by CQC, Ofsted and equivalent inspectors.
Why We Are Not Pretending to Be “24/7”
A quick look online will turn up pest control companies claiming literal 24/7 cover. Almost universally, this means an out-of-hours number that routes to voicemail or a centralised booking service that quotes you a normal next-day appointment.
We have chosen a different approach. We tell you what we actually do. Our phones are staffed from very early in the morning through very late at night, every day of the year except Christmas Day. For the small number of pest problems that need a technician between midnight and 6am, we generally cannot send anyone out at that exact hour. We can take your call, get your details, and have a technician on the road as soon as we open the next morning.
For the overwhelming majority of pest emergencies, this is the right service. It is also the honest one.
Same-Day Pest Control
Same-day cover is the most common request we get, and the one we are most consistently able to fulfil. Because our technicians live and work in the regions they cover, we can usually get to you within a couple of hours of the call, anywhere in our main coverage area.
Same-day callouts apply to:
- Rodent infestations of any kind
- Wasp, bee and hornet nests
- Bed bug treatments for hotels, holiday lets and HMOs
- Cockroach treatments for food businesses
- Squirrels in lofts
- Bird control where there is an immediate health and safety issue
If you need same-day service, call us as early in the day as possible. We honour same-day requests on a first-come basis, so a 9am call almost always gets booked, a 4pm call sometimes needs to roll over to the following morning.
Frequently Asked Questions: 24 Hour Pest Control
Are you literally open 24 hours a day?
No, and we don’t claim to be. Our phone lines are staffed from very early in the morning until very late in the evening, every day of the year apart from Christmas Day. For most pest emergencies this is more than enough cover. If you call in the middle of the night you can leave a message and we will be back to you at the start of our next staffed window.
Do you really work on Sundays?
Yes. Every Sunday, all year round. Sunday is one of our busier days because most of our competitors are closed.
Do you work on bank holidays?
Yes, every UK bank holiday except Christmas Day. This includes Good Friday, Easter Monday, the May bank holidays, the Summer bank holiday, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
What about the week between Christmas and New Year?
We work every day in that week apart from Christmas Day itself. This is one of our quietest weeks for competitor activity and one of the most under-served weeks in the pest control calendar, so it is often easier to get a same-day slot then than during a normal working week.
How quickly can you get to me?
Same-day response is standard across our main coverage area in England and Wales. In most cases we can be with you within a couple of hours of the booking call. Exact response time depends on technician location and current bookings, which we tell you honestly when you call.
Do you charge more for out-of-hours callouts?
For most jobs, no. Same-day weekend and bank holiday callouts are quoted at standard rates. Genuine middle-of-the-night attendance, where it is possible, is the only category where a premium rate may apply, and you will be told the price before any visit.
Are your technicians qualified?
Every JG Pest Control technician is a BPCA Level 2 certified techniciannician. This is the recognised UK industry qualification for professional pest management.
If you need pest control on a Sunday, a bank holiday, late in the evening, or first thing in the morning, call us now and speak to a real person. JG Pest Control: open every day except Christmas Day.
