What to look for in a bird control company

Bird problems are building problems: the fix has to match the bird, the structure and how the space is used. These are the things worth checking before you choose anyone.

  • A survey first: a proper inspection identifies the species, where the birds land, roost or nest, and how they get in, so the proofing fits the building.
  • The right proofing for the job: netting, spikes, mesh and solar panel proofing each suit different situations. A good company recommends the method that works, not the one it happens to stock.
  • Clean-down and disinfection: bird droppings and nesting debris should be cleared and the area disinfected as part of the work, not left behind.
  • Safe work at height: much bird work is on roofs, ledges and canopies, so check the company plans access properly.
  • Legal, humane methods: wild birds, their active nests and eggs are protected by law, so proofing that stops birds landing, roosting and nesting is the right starting point.
  • Verified reviews and qualified technicians: a large base of independent reviews and properly trained technicians tell you more than any sales pitch.

  • Over 40 jobs fitting bird spikes
  • Over 40 jobs sealing bird entry points with mesh
  • Over 30 bird netting installations and repairs
  • Over 100 jobs with a droppings clean-down or disinfection

Bird control in London

We completed over 70 bird control jobs across London’s E, EC, N, NW, SE, SW, W and WC postcode areas, in every one of those eight postcode areas, and about 50 of them were proofing, clean-down or bird of prey work. Pigeons were the problem on over 60 of the London jobs, and London installs were mostly spikes and netting. About 20 of the London bird jobs were for commercial customers.

How these figures are counted: JG Pest Control jobs only, each a paid order counted once, October 2025 to September 2026. A bird job carries a bird service line or recorded bird work (ladybirds, which are insects, are not counted). London means the E, EC, N, NW, SE, SW, W and WC postcode areas. Installation, species and commercial counts are minimums, taken from technician records, order lines and customer type codes.

Yes, when it is done properly.
