Getting Rid of a Cockroach Infestation

Cockroaches are one of the world's most infamous pests. By nature they are dirty and can spread diseases. These pests are directly associated with dirt and poor hygiene, so a greasy kitchen provides the perfect home for a cockroach infestation. Unfortunately, they often find their way into well-kept properties too, usually due to an infestation in a neighbouring area.

There are various species of cockroach. The most common in England are the German, Oriental and brown-banded cockroaches. Regardless of the species, JG can help you get rid of a cockroach infestation.

DIY Methods to Get Rid of Cockroaches

You are unlikely to eliminate a cockroach infestation without professional support. To discuss treatment options, speak to JG Pest Control. There are no effective DIY treatments for removing cockroaches.

Many people attempt to squash cockroaches on sight, but often this only makes the problem worse. By doing this you are transferring cockroach eggs - which are carried by females in protective oothecae - to your shoes or tools, spreading the infestation around your home.

If you spot a cockroach, it is likely there is an army of the pests hiding away nearby. Cockroaches do not live alone and breed constantly in a bid for survival. Squashing the odd cockroach is not likely to make a dent, which is why professional heat or chemical treatment is best.

DIY Stopgaps

  • Strict hygiene - eliminate food and water sources
  • Seal cracks around skirting, pipes and appliances
  • Sticky monitor traps to track activity
  • Avoid squashing - it spreads eggs

Why DIY Often Fails

  • Cockroach eggs are protected inside oothecae
  • Roaches hide deep in walls, electrics and appliance motors
  • Resistance to many consumer insecticides
  • Surviving roaches re-establish within weeks

JG Pest Control's Cockroach Extermination

JG employs the latest heat and chemical treatments to get rid of cockroaches. Our treatment combines professional-strength gel baits, residual sprays applied to harbourage points, and growth regulators that disrupt the breeding cycle. We survey the property to identify the species (usually German or Oriental cockroach in the UK) and locate the hiding spots, then apply a targeted plan.

For severe or commercial infestations, we recommend heat treatment, which kills all life stages - including eggs - in a single visit. Same-day response is available across your area and all work is guaranteed.
