Based on 39,204 pest control call-outs with a valid postcode district, attended in the 12 months to August 2026. Real jobs, real postcodes: this is where Britain actually calls pest control.

New: explore the interactive map. Click or zoom into any county to break it into postcode districts - every completed visit over the last six months compared with the same period a year earlier, including share-of-mix trends. Open the interactive UK pest map. (The interactive view counts completed visits over six months; the figures on this page are call-outs over twelve, so totals differ by design.)

Most pest maps are built on surveys or search trends. This one is built on 39,204 genuine call-outs our group’s engineers attended over the last 12 months, mapped to postcode district. The headlines: rats are Britain’s biggest problem (7,813 call-outs), wasps peak in rural Bedfordshire and Northern Ireland (6,723), bed bugs are overwhelmingly a London story (4,703), and mice split their time between the capital and Birmingham (4,285).

Rats: 7,813 call-outs

Rats are everywhere, but the busiest districts cluster in Bedfordshire (MK45, MK43, MK41), Brighton and Hove (BN1-BN3), Oxford (OX3, OX4) and Birmingham - the B postcode area logs 315 call-outs, more than any other. See our rat and rodent control service.

Busiest districts: MK45 (46), OX4 (36), MK43 (33), BN3 (31), SL6 (30).

Wasps & Hornets: 6,723 call-outs

The wasp map is the mirror image of the bed bug map: rural and suburban, not urban. North Bedfordshire villages (MK44, MK45, MK43) and Sandy (SG19) top the district table, while Northern Ireland - not shown on the map - is the single busiest area in the country with 463 call-outs across BT postcodes. See wasp nest removal.

Bed Bugs: 4,703 call-outs

Bed bugs concentrate where people and property turn over fastest: London fills the top of the national table, led by Croydon (CR0), Whitechapel (E1) and Islington (N1). We have mapped the capital district by district on our dedicated London bed bug hotspots page. For treatment, see bed bug removal and heat treatment.

Busiest districts: CR0 (42), E1 (42), N1 (41), SW11 (39), E14 (35).

Mice: 4,285 call-outs

Mice are a tale of two cities: south and north London (SE, SW and N postcodes) dominate, with Birmingham (B, 212 call-outs) the strongest area outside the capital. Islington (N1), Paddington (W2) and Forest Hill (SE23) lead the district table. See mice control.

The rest of the table

Beyond the big four: squirrels (1,431 call-outs, led by Birmingham and Glasgow), ants (1,146, concentrated in north London - Hampstead’s NW3 is the single busiest district), birds (759), moths (654 - remarkably concentrated in prime London: Chelsea’s SW3, Kensington’s W8 and Maida Vale’s W9 all make the top five), cockroaches (550, led by Derby and East Ham) and fleas (545). Dedicated hotspot pages for these are on the way.

Methodology. Figures are pest control call-outs attended by our group’s engineers in the 12 months to August 2026. 49,572 active jobs were reviewed; 39,297 carried a pest type and a postcode district, and the 39,204 with a valid, mappable district are included in per-pest figures. Counts are shown at postcode-district level only and describe jobs attended, not confirmed infestation rates. Districts with no recorded call-outs may still have pest activity - we simply were not called. Northern Ireland figures are included in tables but not on the Great Britain map. Data is updated monthly; this page was last updated 5 August 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Every figure comes from real pest control call-outs attended by our group’s engineers - 39,297 jobs with a pest type and valid postcode district in the 12 months to August 2026. Nothing is modelled or estimated.

Rats top our call-out table with 7,813 jobs in the last 12 months, ahead of wasps and hornets on 6,723, bed bugs on 4,703 and mice on 4,285.

Rural Bedfordshire. The villages of MK44, MK45 and MK43 are Britain’s busiest wasp districts in our data, and Northern Ireland’s BT postcodes log more wasp call-outs than any other area - 463 in 12 months.
