RSPH (BPCA) Level 2 certified techniciansSame-day responseFree, no-obligation surveyGuaranteed treatmentsTrusted since 2010

We are recruiting 30 pest control technicians across nine UK regions, alongside roofers, bird control technicians, solar panel proofing installers, loft insulation installers, heat treatment technicians and clearance operatives. It is the largest single intake we have run, and it is worth explaining what sits behind it.

Why we are growing

JG Pest Control has been family-run since 2010 and is now the fastest growing large pest control company in the UK, part of the Tyro UK Group. Growth in this trade is not abstract. It means more properties on the books, more emergency call-outs answered the same day, and more ground for each team to cover. At some point you either take on more people or you start letting customers down.

We would rather take on more people.

Where the 30 roles are

The split follows regional population, weighted towards London where demand runs ahead of everywhere else:

  • Greater London - 8 technicians
  • North of England - 6 technicians
  • The Midlands - 4 technicians
  • South of England - 4 technicians
  • East of England - 2 technicians
  • West of England - 2 technicians
  • Scotland - 2 technicians
  • Wales - 1 technician
  • Northern Ireland - 1 technician

Between them, those regions cover 562 towns and cities. Northern Ireland is worth a particular mention: it is one of our busiest areas and almost all of that has come organically, without us advertising for it.

No experience needed, and we mean it

Most of these roles need no previous experience and no qualifications. We train people ourselves, including the RSPH (BPCA) Level 2 Award in Pest Management where the role calls for it, and we cross-train across every role we recruit for. Someone who joins as a trainee is not locked into that job.

The one thing we cannot be flexible on is a full UK driving licence. Every field role is home-based with a company van, so it is not something we can work around.

What the job is actually like

It is practical, varied and public-facing. No two call-outs are the same, you are trusted with your own patch, and you see the result of your work the same day. It also involves getting your hands dirty, and we would rather say that plainly than have someone find out in week two.

People tend to stay with us. Our retention is high and that is the number we are proudest of, because in this trade it is unusual and it is the one thing a recruitment page cannot fake.

Applying

Every role, every region and every town we are hiring in is listed on our pest control jobs page. Applications go to a real person, and you get an acknowledgement straight away telling you what happens next.

If your town is not on the list, apply anyway. We are probably still within reach.
